Blue Beetle Jam - The list so far edit

Sun Dec 27, 2009, 2:44 PM
*EDIT* Okay guys a bit of news, your deadline is officially the 28 February 2010. Also, if I've been a bit absent it's because my internet connection has seemingly died and I'm offline til it's fixed, which should only be another week or two (with the exception of when I'm at my good friend Mikey's place) Does this mean that I can't do my Blue Beetle painting? That would be no. It's already half way finished and going along well.

Now people, I hope having a deadline will actually get you working on these pics. Because so far Lee Gaston is the only one I've seen complete theirs. Let me know what's going on okay? Cheers

I'm hosting an art jam for the late Ted Kord Blue Beetle. I've just sat down while waiting for the christmas festivities and draw up some pencils for the bug. I'm happy with how they came out and might use 'em for this jam if people are interested.

Ted Kord was MY blue beetle. Everyone who grew up reading Justice League International considers Ted Kord to be the true Blue Beetle, and Jaime Reyes can suck eggs as far as we're concerned.... so why it's acceptable for Ted to be a black lantern and not Bruce is beyond my ability to process right now as I've only had my first coffee of the day but oh well, that's not important I guess.

So let me know people, because I'm doing alot of Beetle sketches today and tomorrow and I want them to be for something.

So: Art jam - Blue Beetle. Who's in?

So far we have:

Janise :iconzejansolo: - who has been sorely missed here on DA, I'm glad to see her back :)

Erick Cabral :iconmarr-pheos: - creator of Red Bratva; if you haven't already you really should check out his work. It's amazing

"Auto" :iconalxmb: : I'm really looking forward to seeing what you bring to this Auto, you always bring a certain spark to everything you do :)

Chris Shehan :iconzhourules: : This guy has plenty of potential to make it in the business and I can't wait to see what he puts out for this, check him out

Lee Gaston :icongaston25: : You can see Lee's Awesome rendition of Good 'ol Ted here [link]

Massive Edit!!! Concerning Batman!!!

Okay, I'm so fucking angry about this that I just cannot let it go! Fuck Geoff Johns! Fuck HIM! How dare He bring back Bruce Wayne as a Black Lantern????!!!! For all that's holy how can he have gotten away with this??? AAAARRRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!! So what if it was only for 2 pages, it has brought out so much anger in me I almost tore up the comic! grrrrrrr, gonna start hitting something now...

Well I was lucky enough to get all seven of the DC official promotional power rings today from my local comic book store. It's good having people their who like me enough to help with that kinda stuff lol.

So question; out of the following coloured rings/corps, which do you think I should use for my next deviantID?
-Green
-Yellow (sinestro)
-Blue
-Indigo
-Red
-Orange

In case you were wondering, I refuse to wear the Star Saphire ring (Violet) due to the fact that all Star Saphires are female.

Sigh...

Well I've been getting some real good work done lately and unfortunately you can't see it. "Why?" you might ask? It's because I can't find the driver disk for my printer/scanner and most of what I've been working on has been traditional art; you know: pencil, ink, actual paper pages.

I've been going out of my comfort zone and doing whole page scenes and working hard to my backgrounds to give them the heavy improvement they needed and now my scanner drivers go kablammo and I can't even show off my progress.

Sigh... sometimes life can just be plain cruel.

But here's the thing, I've been working on some fantasy stuff; Vampires, Elves, Dragons, etc. and it's all looking and READING rather well. So well that I'm fighting away my nervousness with a broadsword and sending some of my short tales to a short story magazine to see if it'll get printed. Scattered over the pages of these short stories are my trademark illustrations that got me my first 1,000 page views here on deviant art and to be honest it just makes me sad that you guys can't see these. But think back fondly people to my older stuff with it's scary atmospheres and that timeless horror-esk inking style and just be patient because even if I have to rob a bank I WILL get another scanner and be showing my art again soon!

Until then, I'll just kinda be hovering around... looking at everyone else's work. So keep it up guys! :D

Ha HA! okay people it's just struck 2am and what better time to do some lame ass cosplay and do a fan comic of Will Eisner's The Spirit? possibly when I'm more awake but still, meh.

I've just had a metaphorical slap in the face from a babe I know and it all wound up like a story you'd expect to read if you picked up a book about either Doctor Mid-Nite (Charles McNider) or The Spirit. Attractive dame is in trouble, valiant hero (that'd be me) acts to save the day, only to find out that he's been played... story of my life haha.

Anyway, as previously stated, I don't have access to a reliable scanner right now but I can tell you this, with every day I spend drawing madly (simply because it passes the time for as long as I can't post my art and check obsessively every five minutes to see feedback) I'm improving alot. My backgrounds are more abundant, my anatomy has finally settled into a comfortable style that I can call my own, and I'm actually managing to write scripts that I can transfer onto the comic page. Life is good when you realise that it's true what they say. Practice makes perfect! ...or at least as close to perfect as you're likely to get :D

Anyway, be patient, I haven't forgotten about DA, nor have I forgotten what I owe a few of you. Patience people will be rewarded.

Sayonara, and see ya round :)
